Special Lecture: Vision and Strategy of the 「August 15 Unification Doctrine」
The Minister of Unification, Yung Ho Kim delivered a speech on the 「August 15 Unification Doctrine」which reflects the change in North Korean Society. North Korea is experiencing significant changes, including the rise of marketization through the proliferation of informal markets, increased access to information due to the spread of South Korean culture, the institutionalization of corruption, negative perceptions of power succession, and growing admiration for South Korean society. Minister Kim demonstrated the government’s commitment to supporting North Korean residents in realizing the value of freedom and becoming agents of change themselves.

Pastor Emeritus Hyeon Soo Lim of the Canadian Presbyterian Church, who had conducted missionary work in North Korea for over 20 years and was previously imprisoned in North Korea, joined Minister Kim for a talk concert. Reflecting on his time in prison, Pastor Lim delivered the importance of freedom and human rights and shared his observation of the potential for change among North Koreans. Pastor Lim emphasized that international pressure is necessary to address the current status of North Korea. The dialogue urged younger generations to consider the importance of unification.
