About the Center:
Launched in 2014, the Center for Security Policy Studies (CSPS) advances the study and practice of strategic thinking by faculty members, policy professionals and graduate students. Through its research and workshops, it contributes to national and global policy making and problem solving by convening scholars, business leaders and policy makers to address pressing security challenges.
George Mason’s School of Policy, Government and International Affairs (SPGIA) is uniquely positioned to have a significant impact nationally and globally. Physically located in Arlington, VA, it is in close proximity to the nation’s capital but far enough away to avoid the short-term groupthink endemic to Washington, D.C. In addition to nationally known faculty, SPP attracts a substantial number of PhD and Master’s level students who seek to serve in the U.S. government, governments of other countries, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and as well as in the corporate world. The Center for Security Policy Studies offers a research outlet for creative new policy ideas at a time of dramatic changes in the character of conflict.
