2020
Su A Cho is a sophomore majoring in Global Affairs with a concentration in Global Governance at George Mason University Campus. He is currently serving as a research assistant at the Center for Security Policy Studies – Korea. His research interest focuses on international security policies in Southeast Asia and East Asia, human security in developing nations, and democratization of Myanmar.
Ilya Kim is an ethnically-Korean student from Russia, currently majoring in Global Affairs with a Global Governance concentration at George Mason University Korea campus. Now, he is beginning his term as a research fellow at the Center for Security and Policy Studies – Korea. His research interests lay in North Korean development and Russo-East Asian relations beyond the Soviet Union era.
Sooyoun Kim is a sophomore majoring in Global Affairs at George Mason University Korea Campus with a concentration in Global Governance. She is also minoring in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Her primary interests are in human security and Asia-pacific security. She hopes to broaden her knowledge in international security issues through this program.
Seihoon Lee is a sophomore majoring in Business with a minor in Global Affairs. His primary interest is geopolitics, focusing on the geopolitical factors that affect national security strategies. As a student fellow of CSPS Korea, he aspires to develop analytical skills and aquire in-depth knowledge of international security issues.
Sua Oh is a sophomore majoring in Global Affairs at George Mason University Korea Campus. Her primary interest is human security as she aims to study ‘people-centered’ policies to reduce inequalities and insecurities around the world. Through this program, she strives to enhance her research skills in order to contribute towards solutions for various international security challenges.
Yeonju Park is a sophomore studying Global Affairs at George Mason University. She is interested in environmental security issues such as increasing consumption of disposable products and climate change. She plans to contribute to improving security recognition by some events and let people consider environmental issues as a serious problem.

Yuro Choi is a Junior majoring in Global Affairs at George Mason University Korea. Her main focus is on the security policies of East Asian states and the United States’ role on the issue. She acknowledges the unusual security condition those states are in, and the diverse effects it brings. As a student fellow of CSPS Korea, she expects to have deeper understandings and wider views regarding security policies.
Hayun Kim is a Sophomore majoring in Global Affairs at George Mason University Korea Campus. It is her first semester here at the Center for Security Policy Studies as a research fellow. Her primary interest is social inequality, which is linked to human security. She has recently become intrigued by North Korean defectors’ issues after the last CSPS-K Spring 2021 Symposium. She wishes to learn a variety of fields of security policies which can eventually lead to world peace – her ultimate goal she had ever since she was a child.

Derek Viator is a Junior majoring in International Government and Politics at the George Mason University Fairfax Campus and studying abroad for his second semester at the George Mason University Korea Campus. His primary interest is international security focused on the rise of military technology and power balancing in order to assess ways to keep people safe in areas of heightened conflict. Through the CSPS program, he endeavors to expand his research and analysis skills while gaining experience working in a close-knit team environment in hopes to support countries around the world in assessing a variety of international security issues.
